Job Description
Ultimately responsible for profit and loss of projects, by customer. These duties include, but are not limited to, profitability of existing business, support to the sales staff during the estimating process, quality contact and facilitator for each component sold, direct sales responsibility in developing new business opportunities, managing customer expectations during new project start-up, and clearly defining the parameters of the part to be made for the manufacturing floor through bills of materials and routings. Purchasing materials, scheduling production, inventory control, and all warehouse functions related to receiving and shipping. As the internal “voice of the customer,” these individuals also manage all required ISO/TS documentation, as detailed in the New Project Management process.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for meeting customer demands in such a way that both the customer, and the company, will grow and prosper.
Has P/L responsibility for the business.
Estimates prices to maximize profitability, while costing the products with internal and external suppliers.
Coordinates the launch of new projects with the customer, (both internal and external).
Interacts with Sales, Production, Quality and Engineering personnel to ensure jobs are quoted accurately, routed correctly, quality standards established and adhered to properly, run efficiently and produce parts that meet our customers’ expectations.
Manage new projects using our defined processes.
Coordinate staff efficiently and effectively in support of Company and Project Management goals and objectives.
Responsible for all blueprints, sales master files, pricing history, detailed pricing documentation and quality requirements for new projects as well as bringing all the departments together for projects to produce a quality product, on time, profitably.
Responsibilities reporting to Project Managers are: Product Management, Estimating, Purchasing, Customer Service (all related to “the customer experience.”); Scheduling, Inventory, Production Control, Receiving and Shipping.
Education/Experience: Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance will be accepted. Typical qualifications include a Bachelors Degree from an accredited university and 2-5 years experience.
Knowledge: Must be familiar with the principals and practices of Sales and Marketing, and Project Management. Must demonstrate the ability to read and understand component drawings and tolerance schemes. General knowledge of the production of tubular steel parts is a plus. Experience running a business is the end result.
Skills: Effective leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Computer skills, spreadsheet efficiency, and working with numbers are required skills. CAD experience is a plus.
